That Ealing Feeling
The Bongos Disc Golf Club made
their second appearance at the London Borough of Ealing's annual sports
festival organised by the Sports Development Team. Most of the Borough's
sports clubs were represented and it is certainly a good opportunity to
spread the word. Most attendees were families. The Bongos took down a
basket and plenty of putters. Kids and parents alike were enthralled by
the discs and the basket and the activity was busy all day. Hopefully
this sort of activity will help towards establishing London's first permanent
disc golf facility.
It's All About Team Work?
Disc golf has infiltrated a new market,
the corporate entertainment market. The first event was at a new park
development in Ealing. Local businesses were invited to take part in a
team event. Companies entered a team of 4 persons and were required to
participate in 4 activities over the day, including canoeing, orienteering,
an obstacle course and disc golf. The second corporate event was organised
by one of Europe's top corporate team event companies called 'Challenger
UK'. There were 80 companies from all over the UK including Microsoft,
Orange Telecommunications and BP. The event was held over 4 days at Pontins
in Norfolk. The disc golf activity was part of a number of challenges
set up for each company's top senior executives. The entire event hoped
to raise in excess of one million pounds for the National Children's Home
and will also have introduced some big companies to the delights of disc
golf.
