The Disc Golf European Championships are staged every two years. This year's takes place in Oslo, Norway. The last EC was in Gstaad, Switzerland in September 1999. The Euro Champs 2001 promises to be even bigger. The field is at its maximum with 170 players competiting and there's a big waiting list for any cancellations. There are 4 divisions competing - Open, Women, Juniors and Masters. The clear favourite for the tournament isn't European, he's American. He also happens to be the greatest disc golfer that has ever lived, and he also happens to be the current and ten times World Champion, he is Ken Climo. For many players this will be the first time they have seen Ken in action as he plays his golf on the US tournament circuit. This is a great coup for the tournament and will undoubtedly attract interest to the growing European scene. There are 18 European nations competing, the strongest of these being Sweden. In last year's World Championships in Michegan, USA, Sweden's Jesper Lundmark took 3rd place. He will be looking to hit some good form again. Also looking to do well will be Sweden's Christian Sandstrøm, the reigning Champion. A player who's been in the news recently is Germany's Chris 'Max' Voigt. As well as being a very good player (3rd place at the last EC), Chris recently broke the world distance record, throwing a golf disc 217.05 metres. I expect Chris might be signing a few discs that weekend. It's shaping up to be a humdinger of a tournament. OB Megazine hope to be there, and the roaming lens of Discgolfphotos.com also hope to be there, let's hope you're there too. For
