Close Finish To Open Division Final
Going into the final nine, the top four players were as follows:-
Derek Robins - 170 strokes
Simon Luard - 170 strokes
Tom Soper - 179 strokes
Oz Friere - 179 strokes

Final hole commentary by Spencer Worth:

3rd place Tom Soper had a lead of 2 shots over Oz Friere going into the final final hole. Soper threw OB under the fence by the sport's hall. Friere parked his drive.

Simon Luard had just lost a shot on the previous hole to Derek Robins to put them level again. Both had reasonable drives on the last but Luard was definitely closer. Scene set. Robins putted first and bagged a decent length putt, punching the air in delight. Tom Soper up next needed to put out for his 3 and hold 3rd place. Credit due - he bagged it. Friere popped his putt in to finish one shot behind Soper in 4th. Luard needed to sink a shortish putt to share the win.. He choked the putt and Robins won! Luard was noticably gutted!
