British Disc Golf Association Awards Dinner 2002 Nayland, Colchester

The annual awards dinner is an end of season celebration for members of the Association. There are a number of awards presented recognising special achievements from the members, these are voted for by BDGA members. Also the winners of each division from the Tour are presented with awards.

Plenty of memorable moments from the evening, everyone had a great time. Food was v. tasty, although it needed to be considering the time it took to serve it. Swordfish and bread and butter butting was the pick of the menu (not together).

Awards Presentation
Spencer Worth and Richard Sampson hosted the presentations. Biggest highlight of Spencer's night was incorrectly announcing Steve Jones as winner of the Contribution To British Disc Golf award. Spencer apologised and took a seat away from the stage to regain his poise. Richard had to be careful as the zip on his trousers had broken (ladies and children present). click to enlarge

Funniest Moment Of The Year - Jester Wilson
Jester's clod of mud flying off his boot and landing in Gwyn's pint of beer was unanimously voted as the funniest moment of 2002. Steve Reees was many peoples favourite - in the middle of the river at low tide, up to his thighs in mud playing the sport he loves. Fine line between humour and insanity.

Other contenders for this coveted award:

  • The salad cream on the head incident at Quarry Park
  • Derek's trousers and the amazing disappearing hacky sack at Burnlaw
  • Ben Ayres and the W*nker Game at Hayling
  • Friday night at Hayling Hurricane
  • Putter rolled up the flares of a student at Essex Uni
  • The horse laughing at Dan Luton on Mull
  • Matt Pike throwing all of his discs into the sea at Hayling
