Venue
Malvern Link Common
Malvern, Gloucester, UK
Tournament Details
8/9th November 2003
This event comprises of two parts; the top 16 BDGA Tour finishers
are invited to contest the SMC title, and there is space for
a maximum of 12 extra spaces for a Not-the-top-16 competition.
The Malvern course consists of
12 holes, partially basketted, with the remaining targets consisting
of taped trees. Sunday play will be on a longer 12-hole course
at the same venue, the Malvern Link Common.
Play will be standard Matchplay
format, initially with 4 pools of 4 players, according to seeding,
to be played on the Saturday, with quarter-finals, semi-finals
and the final to take place on Sunday, along with playoffs for
position in the rest of the field.
Lunches will be at the Nags Head
pub, at the west edge of the course. Previous visitors have
dubbed it "the best pub in British Discgolf", with
a fine array of real ales, single malts, and excellent food.
The landlord has assured us he'll give us all "a large
portion", as the bishop said to the actress.
Eligibility and Entry
Historically, not all top 16 Tour finishers have played at the
SMC, and unused places will be offered to 17th position and
downwards as they become available. To aid this process, any
player in the top 24 is invited to apply for the event, with
unsuccessful applicants being offered a place in the Not competition.
The Not competition will be allocated on a first-come-first-served
basis.
The deadline for top 16 applicants
is 28th October. The place of any top 16 player who has not
applied by this date will be offered to lower ranked players
who have bothered to. We might still squeeze you into the Not
though, if you're lucky. You have been warned!
