Review by Richard Sampson
The first BDGA tournament of the year welcomed a lot of familiar faces and there was a good turn out of players (approx 30).

Course owner and Tournament Director Toby Green had been putting a lot of time into improving the two courses. A few new holes were introduced and landscaping meant that there were a few surprises. The improvements were well received by players and the course will look great for the British Open this coming summer.
The oustanding round of the second round was from Toby Green, leaving him in 2nd place behind Derek Robins. This suggested that he'd been practicing hard in the off-season, his subsequent rounds proved otherwise!
Neil Pickett - Bristol Acer

The overnight leader was Simon Luard, with Oz Friere, Sam Neilsen, Bud Tilton, Andy Lucey and Tom Soper in close contention in the Open Division.
The UK women's no.1, Ruth Steele, was also showing good form.

The course is really hard on the legs so the players' dinner at the Greyhound pub on Saturday night was well received. Best brew - Palmers.

The final day saw last year's British Champion, Derek Robins turn the screw and stretch away. In the Open final, Sam Neilsen and Simon Luard had a right ding-dong and finished tied for 2nd. Oz Friere fell away and Bud Tilton was tidy to take a very respectable 4th. Robins won comfortably by 5 strokes.

The Am Division was convincingly won by Ruth Steele. Bongo USA, Steve Jones was also in good form to take second place. Further down the Am Div, there was a good performance from Southampton's Stu Brompton.

Team Bongos - Spencer Worth and Jester Wilson were disappointing after showing a taste for finals at the end of last season.
